Collision Damage Analysis is a specialist field of automotive and mechanical engineering that examines vehicle damage following a collision to determine how it occurred, whether it is consistent with the reported circumstances, and its significance within legal proceedings. Unlike collision reconstruction, which focuses on how an accident happened, Collision Damage Analysis concentrates on the physical evidence, including vehicle damage, structural integrity, repair quality, component failure and vehicle valuation.

Collision Damage Analysis experts are commonly instructed in civil litigation, criminal proceedings, insurance disputes and consumer claims. Their role is to provide independent, impartial engineering evidence that assists the court in understanding technical issues beyond the knowledge of the average person.
